Ice & Ivy by J. D. Evans
J. D. Evans, you have ruined me for almost every other fantasy series; like, how dare you be this good. How dare you take this broken man and make him whole again; how dare you take this brave woman and reward her so thoroughly for her troubles and HOW DARE you create such a viciously delightful world that keeps drawing me further and further into it. The layers on layers in this thing, giving us struggle and suffering and then *comfort and redemption, all while upping the stakes in a story you've been expertly weaving all throughout this series, it's just .
Tell me what I need to do; like, how can I support you as you work on book 5? You need your house cleaned? I got you. You need meals planned? I'll learn to cook. Somebody bothering you? Not any more they're not. I'll answer your phone called, emails, fan letters, whatever it is you need done that is not writing this next book I will be all over it; nothing in my life is or ever has been more important than what you are currently working on and I say this as someone who has literally brought people back from the dead as part of my job, ma'am. I am your humble servant; put me to work.
*and honestly, some of the best comfort in the game. Like, such thorough comfort there is chapter breaks so you can catch your breath. Comfort that does not feel the least bit academic and yet you walk away with such a deeper understanding of the human body you can't help but KNOW you have been thoroughly educated.
